COVID-19 FAQ

In light of rapid developments related to Corona / COVID-19 – and despite our recent optimism – it has now become unavoidable to postpone ICPR 2020. This has been a very difficult decision to make and not one we made lightly. We stand in solidarity with the firm stance being taken by the global health community at large, to protect the most vulnerable in this situation.


We are pleased to announce that we have already found a new date: 24, 25 & 26 September, 2020.


We realize that postponing the conference can have consequences for you. Below you will find answers to the various questions you may have. We are confident that we can maintain the same integrity, diversity and quality of the conference, and look forward to gathering together at this later date, when the situation will have settled down.


Has the conference been cancelled?

No, it has not! Fortunately, we have managed to postpone the conference exactly five months. Please note that the conference now runs from Thursday 24 to Saturday 26 September 2020. It will be held in the same exact beautiful location – the Philharmonie in Haarlem, Netherlands.


Will my ticket be converted to the new date automatically?

Yes, your registration will automatically be converted to Thursday 24th, Friday 25th and Saturday 26th of September 2020. 


What about the workshops?

Tickets for the workshops are also transferred automatically to the new date. What those new dates will be? We will first discuss with all facilitators individually and plan to announce the new dates as soon as possible.


Why did you postpone the conference?

On March 12 – the Dutch national government and the Dutch National Institute for Public Health (RIVM) handed out a directive that forbids all events over 100 people. Many universities and hospitals have also directed their staff and students to refrain from traveling for long periods of time. While the directive currently applies only until the end of this month, we don’t feel confident this will be the end date. Combined with the escalating measures of travel restrictions and lock-downs happening over multiple continents, we have come to the conclusion that postponing the conference to a later date is the only viable and responsible option. 


Can I keep my tickets? 

Yes, tickets purchased for the main conference or pre-conference workshops will be valid and automatically transferred to the new date. 


I am unable to attend the new date, can I get my money back?

If you are unable to make the new dates of the conference, you can request a refund for before April 15th 2020 at the latest. Your refund request should be sent to refunds@icpr2020.net and should mention your full name and the order number of the ticket(s).


Please note, that if you later decide to attend the conference, you will need to purchase the tickets at regular price. All early bird tickets are sold out, and will not be offered again. 


I can still make it, but I got a student discount and I won’t be a student anymore in September. Can I keep my discount?

Yes, you can keep the discount.


I already booked flights and hotels, what can I do to cover costs?

Unfortunately we can not take responsibility for costs of any additional losses incurred by you as a result of the rescheduling of our conference. We appreciate your understanding. 


Flights: Most airlines have announced that they will be giving credit for flights that need to be canceled and or rebooked. Please contact your airline to see what their credit policy has been with the outbreak of COVID-19.

Hotels: Please call your hotel and ask them what their policy is. Some hotels allow rebooking, sometimes incurring an extra fee.


Are any expenses already made by us covered by your insurance ?

Unfortunately, the event insurance explicitly does not cover the cancellation of events in connection with epidemics, pandemics or in connection with preventative measures taken by responsible authorities. This situation is affecting all of us, and is projected to have a serious financial impact on many businesses simultaneously. We made the decision as soon as we could, hoping this will give enough time to (partially) recoup any losses you might incur. We advise you to inquire with your airline and hotel into possibilities of changing dates and/or cancellation policies.
